detection of il-4, il-6 and il-12 serum levels in generalized aggressive periodontitis

چکیده
background: periodontitis is a multifactorial chronic inflammatory disease characterized by destruction of tooth-supporting tissues. environmental and genetic factors as well as the immune system participate in this process. recent studies have attempted to elucidate the role of cytokine networks involved in periodontal diseases. objective: to assess and compare the levels of il-4, il-6 and il-12 in serum samples of patients with generalized aggressive periodontitis (gagp) and control individuals. methods: a total of 50 subjects were included in the study of which 25 patients had generalized aggressive periodontitis and 25 were healthy unrelated age and gender matched patients undergoing extraction and surgical crown lengthening (control group). local blood samples of patients were collected from surgical sites of pocket reduction and from healthy individuals before tooth extraction or crown lengthening from non inflamed sites. the levels of il-4, il-6 and il-12 were determined by an elisa assay using serum samples separated from the whole blood of both groups. results: the level of il-4 increased significantly in control group in comparison with the test group (p=0.002). the amount of il-6 in gagp patients increased strongly compared with control group (p

متن کاملSerum Levels of IL-10 and IL-22 Cytokines in Patients with Psoriasis
Background: As a chronic inflammatory condition, psoriasis results from an interaction between genetic and immunologic factors in a predisposing environment. In spite of compelling evidence for the role of T cells and cytokines in psoriasis, interleukin (IL)- 10 and IL-22 have not been sufficiently investigated. Objective: To assess the serum levels of IL-10 and IL-22 in patients with psori...
متن کاملSerum Levels of TNF-α, IFN-γ, IL-6, IL-8, IL-12, IL-17, and IL-18 in Patients With Active Psoriasis and Correlation With Disease Severity
Recent progress in the understanding of psoriasis has shown that the regulation of local and systemic cytokines plays an important role in its pathogenesis. The most often used psoriasis score is the psoriasis area and severity index (PASI). A simple laboratory test from a blood sample would be an attractive, patient-independent, and observer-independent marker of disease severity. To this end,...
متن کاملIL-6 and IL-10 gene polymorphisms in patients with aggressive periodontitis: effects on GCF, serum and clinic parameters.
Genetic variations observed in cytokines affect periodontitis susceptibility. The aim of this study was to investigate interleukin(IL)-6(-174) and IL-10(-597) gene polymorphisms in generalized aggressive periodontitis (GAgP) patients. Also, we aimed to evaluate the effects of IL-6 and IL-10 gene polymorphisms on the clinical outcomes of non-surgical periodontal therapy and cytokine levels in gi...
متن کاملAssociation between TNF-α, TGF-β1, IL-10, IL-6 and IFN-γ gene polymorphisms and generalized aggressive periodontitis
Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate links among cytokine genetic variants and generalized aggressive periodontitis (GAgP). Methods: Thirty-five patients with generalized aggressive periodontitis and 85 healthy controls without periodontitis were included in the study. Probing depth (PD), clinical attachment loss (CAL), plaque index (PI), and gingival index (GI) were recorded as ...
متن کاملassociation of the expression of il-4 and il-13 genes, il-4 and ige serum levels with allergic asthma
immune and inflammatory responses mediated by cytokines, play important roles in the pathophysiology of asthma. these responses are associated with overexpression of th2 cytokines such as il-4 and il-13. these two cytokines use common receptors for signaling that lead to identical immunological effects and regulation of the th1/th2 balance. the aim of this study was to determine whether patient...
